Distribution – Cultivated in Kashmir, Simla and Himachal pradesh in India and in some parts of Europe.

PLANT DESCRIPTION
An erect perennial herb grows up to 1 meter. Leaves alternate, lanceolate- ovate, two leaves arises form one axils; one small and other one large. Flowers are solitary, small, found in leaf axils, light purple colored. Fruits are purple berries.

MEDICINAL PROPERTIES
Plant pacifies vitiated vata, cardiac debility, stomach pain, colic, muscular spasm and urinary retention. It is widely used to stop breast milk secretion. In large dose it is poisonous.
Useful part : Root, leaves, tincture.
