Distribution – Growing naturally in dense forests of Western Ghats, also cultivated.

PLANT DESCRIPTION
A small to medium sized evergreen tree grows up to 20 meters in height. Leaves simple, opposite, ovate-elliptic, acuminate, shiny, with prominent veins. Flowers axillary in sub-terminal cymes, fruits ovoid berries, dark purple when ripe, containing single seed.

MEDICINAL PROPERTIES
Plant pacifies vitiated vata, kapha, pain, arthritis, cough, asthma, headache, dental caries, cardiac disorders, diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, flatulence, fever, and discoloration on face.
Useful part : Bark, Oil.
