PLANT DESCRIPTION
An herbaceous erect perennial plant grows up to 1 meter in height. Leaves simple, large, lobed or toothed, armed or unarmed with thorns on veins; flowers pale blue in clusters of 2-5; fruits large, long, curved or straight, green or purple colored berries, with thick persistent calyx. Fruits contain many small seeds embedded in the pulp.
MEDICINAL PROPERTIES
Plant pacifies vitiated vata, pitta, inflammation, neuralgia, cardiac debility, ulcers, bronchitis, cholera, asthma, fever and general debility. Unripe fruits are used in India as vegetable.
Useful part : Root, Leaves, Unripe fruits.
