Ayurveda emphasizes on importance, quantity
and quality of water
·
Water is compared to elixor of life when taken appropriately
·
Avoid mixing and consuming hot and cold water, boiled and raw water
·
Water intake during meals- before:
reduces weight, with meals: maintains weight, after meals: increases weight.
·
Drinking water to suppress hunger is not
recommended, one should refrain from drinking water first when at most hungry.
·
Never Skip water intake while feeling
thirsty, or in other words never supress thirst
·
Apart from consequences of dehydration, hearing
impairment is attributed to thirst suppression. .
·
Avoid Drinking cold water soon after
coming from hot atmosphere and vice versa
Remain hydrated during travelling,
preferably warm water.
·
Left 1/3rd of stomach for
water after having meals.
·
Consume only colourless, and odourless potable
water,
·
Refrain from drinking water which has
been boiled and kept overnight
·
Drink boiled water in early morning as a
daily routine
·
Before sleep, water can be consumed
along with light dinner three hours prior to retiring to bed ,warm milk is
ideal for sleep
Sleep
Night Time period including dusk is
to recharge, the body after the wear tear activities of day time. Hence all
activities are directing towards, pacifying, conserving energy and least energy
consuming.
·
Consume light meal, easily digestible
food in early hours of night, preferably three hours going to bed
·
Curd is not recommended to take at
night.
·
Having dinner just before sleep is strictly
prohibited.
·
Late night sleep is highly discouraged, late
night dinner, late night heavy dinner too
are prohibited.
·
Avoid Day sleep, sleeping especially
after meal is undesirable practice
·
In order to compensate lack of night
sleep ,one can sleep in day empty stomach .duration of such compensatory sleep
is intended for a period of half of lost
night sleep hours
·
Voiding bladder and bowel before going to
bed is recommended
·
Prefer to sleep left lateral position ,
on a comfortable bed in safe surroundings. Avoid too low or too high pillow as
well
