Distribution – Growing naturally throughout south India.

PLANT DESCRIPTION
A moderate sized beautiful palm grows up to 6 meters in height. Leaves pinnate with numerous leaflets, leaflets long, acute, and single nerved. Male plant with brown long cone contains several microsporophylls, arranged on a central axis, at the middle. Female plant bears megasporophylls, contains ovules marginally. Ovules when mature become seeds. Ripe seeds are orange colored, with starchy endosperm inside.

MEDICINAL PROPERTIES
Plant pacifies vitiated vata, pitta, pain, inflammation, swelling, flatulence, vomiting, over perspiration, burning sensation and general debility.
Useful part : Bark, Tender leaves, Microsporophylls, Seeds.
