Distribution – Throughout India growing wild in hilly areas, also cultivated.

PLANT DESCRIPTION
A crowded, long leaved perennial grass, grows up to 3 meter in height. Leaves long, pointed with rough margin, stout midrib and fragrant, with oil cells. Flowers in long spikes, spikelets in loose panicles. Leaves on distillation yield Lemon grass oil.

MEDICINAL PROPERTIES
Plant pacifies vitiated vata, kapha, pain, arthritis, flatulence, anorexia, cough, fever, headache, and muscle sprains. .
Useful part : Roots, Leaves.
