Distribution – Found throughout Western Ghats; growing wild as well as cultivated.
A moderate to large sized evergreen tree grows up to 40 meters in height. Leaves simple, opposite, ovate, acute and shining; flowers unisexual, found in separate tree, fruits ovoid with 6-8 groves, containing 6-8 seeds, covered with pulp.
Plant pacifies vitiated vata, kapha, obesity, hypercholestremia, diarrhea, colic, ulcers, inflammations and hyperperspiration.
