Distribution – Growing naturally along the dry areas of India, along wastelands and roadsides.
PLANT DESCRIPTION
A much prickly, perennial under shrub grows up to 50 cm in height. Leaves ovate, or oblong, hairy on both sides, armed with prickles, along the nerves, flowers purple colored, in extra axillary cymes. Fruits globose, drooping berries, yellow on ripe, surrounded by persistent calyx at the base. Seeds many small, smooth and yellowish brown.
MEDICINAL PROPERTIES
Plant pacifies vitiated kapha, pitta, skin diseases, inflammations, colic, flatulence, rheumatoid arthritis, cough, fever, asthma, bronchitis, urinary retention and kidney stones.
Useful part : Root, Fruits
