PLANT DESCRIPTION
Small or medium sized tree grows up to 7 meters in height. Stem grey colored with cracked and scaly bark. Leaves simple, opposite elliptic, acute, up to 15 cm long. Flowers white, fragrant, found as axillary cymes. Fruits ovoid or globose, glabrous berries, it is black when ripe. Seed one or two, yellowish white, abour 1 cm in diameter, white short shining hairs.
MEDICINAL PROPERTIES
Plant pacifies vitiated kapha, pitta, diseases of eye, diabetes, ailments related to urinary system. Seeds are also used to clear arishta and asava (herbal preparations)
